What Is the Middle Finger Dunk AI Trend? Where the Viral Basketball Videos Came From
The story behind the Middle Finger Dunk AI videos: the streetball clip that started it, the first AI version, how it spread and how to make your own.
Oct 26, 2026
If your feed has been full of people flying over their friends for a dunk and flipping the finger at the camera on the way down, you have seen the Middle Finger Dunk trend. Here is where it came from, why it works and how to make your own version.
Where it started
It started with a real game. In October 2026 a TikTok from a night-time 1v1 on an outdoor court showed a player cross over his defender, fly right over him for a one-handed dunk and, still hanging at the rim, flip the middle finger at the camera. The play was shown again from two more angles in slow motion. The on-screen caption, "Bro did an emote mid dunk", gave the trend its other name, and the clip by @dihanator4000 passed a million plays within days.

The first AI version
Within a day a French creator, @teuteuf6, posted an AI remake of the same play with a new dunker with towering blond hair, captioned "Mon prime 1v1 basket" (my prime 1v1 basketball). It passed a million plays too, and it set the template: same court, same crossover, same dunk, same finger, new faces.

How it spread
CapCut templates followed, under names like "Your Prime 1v1 Basketball Moment" and the basketball middle finger trend, and by the next weekend captions simply said middle finger dunk. People cast:
- Their friends: the dunker is you, the defender is the friend who talks the most.
- Their parents: a dad in a plaid shirt dunking over a stranger.
- Pets and monsters: a gorilla, a demon, a chihuahua on its hind legs.
Why it works
The joke is the casting. The play itself is pure disrespect: the crossover, the leap, the finger. Put someone who could never do it in the dunker's spot, or someone who deserves it in the defender's spot, and it is instantly funny. It is also made for phones: vertical, short, with a slow-motion moment people screenshot.
How to make your own
You do not need CapCut or a prompt. With the Basketball Middle Finger AI you upload two photos, the dunker and the defender, and get a new 12-second, 9:16 clip of the play with court and crowd sound. One video is $8.90, three are $19.90 and five are $29.90, with no subscription.
